WHO WE ARE

A solar carport installer, not a panel fitter

We install solar carports end to end — the steel structure, the MCS-certified PV, the electrical work and the DNO grid connection under one contract. Independent, model-driven, and honest about whether a carport is the right call for your site.

solar carport installation: UK commercial installation specialists

Most solar businesses fit panels to roofs. A solar carport is a different job: it is a steel building with a power plant on top, so it needs structural design and sign-off, groundworks and foundations, MCS-certified PV, electrical work to BS 7671 and a DNO grid connection — a scope that sits across three trades. We exist to hold all of it under one contract, so the gaps between a frame supplier and an electrician never become your problem.

Who we are

solarcarportinstallation.co.uk is operated by SEO Dons Ltd (registered in England, Companies House number 16766013, 71-75 Shelton Street, London, WC2H 9JQ). Installations are delivered by MCS-certified, NICEIC- or NAPIT-registered contractors, with structural design signed off by a chartered structural engineer and construction run under CDM 2015. We focus specifically on solar carports and PV canopies over car parks — commercial car parks first, with a separate residential strand for driveway carports.

How we work

We are structural-engineering-led rather than marketing-led. Every canopy is calculated to BS EN 1991 wind and snow loading and BS EN 1993 steelwork, the foundation is chosen from a ground survey rather than a catalogue, and we size the array against your half-hourly meter data so the proposal reflects your actual load, not an optimistic average. Quotes are fixed and itemised, per space and per kWp, and we check DNO capacity before we quote so the number holds.

Honesty as the whole point

Being a specialist means being willing to talk you out of the sale. A solar carport is two to three times the cost of a rooftop array per kWp, so where you have a suitable roof we will tell you to install that first. Where the bay count is too small, the site is heavily shaded, or there is almost no daytime load, we will say the numbers do not stack up and point you to a rooftop system or a zero-capital PPA instead. We do not publish inflated install counts or star ratings we cannot stand behind — this is a specialist site, and what we stand on is the engineering and the accreditations you can verify below, not a wall of numbers.

Every install carries separate written warranties on the structure and the panels, the steel is hot-dip galvanised for a 25-year-plus design life, and an optional O&M plan covers monitoring, cleaning and periodic structural inspection — so you know exactly who is accountable for the canopy in year eight.

When you enquire, your details reach a surveyor who works on carports, not a call centre. There is no obligation, no pushy follow-up, and no phone tag — the fastest route is the feasibility form, and we reply within one working day.
